Cyclops Shaman

Shaman using the primal magic of its evil eye

Cyclops Shamans are rare type of cyclopes with the ability to evoke simple but effective primal magic. Skorne houses strong enough to capture and tame such shamans value their ability to curse enemies, harness the inner power of beasts, and unravel mystical enchantments. The baleful eye of a cyclops shaman can boil the blood and rot the organs of mortals unable to evade its power, leaving them quivering in pain before death finally takes them.[1]

Half-tamed shamans are worth two or even three times the price of the more numerous savages and brutes and tyrants and dominars of the skorne consider the shamans of the cyclopes tribes a rare prize. As is the case with certain other warbeasts possessing unique skills, the skorne have been unable to cultivate shamans in captivity. It is unknown if the cyclopes learn their sorcerous abilities from elder shamans or it naturally occurs in a small percentage of cyclopes and is a subject of ongoing debate among skorne scholars.Skorne chirurgeons and paingivers have made extensive anatomical study of shaman eyes which has revealed that the eye of a shaman is greatly developed and its optic nerve is supported by a complex bundle of secondary nerves. Study of some of the most powerful shamans has also revealed enormous tumors in the occipital lobe which appear to be harmless despite being the size of an adult Skorne hand. Some mortitheurges have gone so far as to experiment with ingesting the tumors, which possess powerful psychotropic properties. Many mortitheurges claim the induced state enhances their powers, a claim under serious debate among practitioners.[1][2]

Their relatively high intelligence alongside a resistance to the lash, makes cyclops shamans hard to control. Shamans are the warbeasts most prone to treachery and they strike at their masters in those moments they believe escape is possible. Tyrants and dominars must keep a tight rein on them in battle to ensure their malevolent gaze is always turned toward the enemy.[1]
