Paingiver Bloodrunners

Bloodrunners hunting in the desert

Walking the narrow line between assassin and warrior, Bloodrunners have turned killing into an art form. They practice rites and rituals originally drawn from paingiver traditions but that now form part of a distinct convention within their own order. The final release of the deaths they inflict empower them to flicker through the shadows like phantoms. Working together, a team of Bloodrunners can expertly slice through enemy ranks, exploiting even the smallest gaps to deliver lethal strikes.[1]

The Bloodrunner tradition has existed for centuries and are the closest of the paingivers to the warrior caste. However they are not followers of the hoksune code and see no shame in striking from the shadows at enemies oblivious to their presence. Instead following the essentials of Morkaash’s teachings, Bloodrunners study anatomy to learn how to deliver precise blows and exploit the power of death to manipulate shadow. Bloodrunners were traditionally employed in small groups to perform surgical strikes in house wars. They were particularly valued when one house desired to conquer another without destroying their rival’s internal assets. Though some disdained this approach, the more cunning archdominars preferred to absorb an enemy house with its warriors intact. An open clash of arms would leave both houses weaker, but the work of the Bloodrunners allowed the victorious house to emerge from its conflict stronger than ever.[1]

After seizing control of the paingiver caste, Morghoul began using the Bloodrunners as his personal vassals, messengers, and executioners. He deploys them to kill those he deems threats to the Skorne Empire, excising those targets like cancerous tissue.[1]
